About the Founder

Todd Weber, PhD, is a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in exercise physiology and a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science, with a dissertation focus on fat metabolism.

Mission

The Paper Database focuses on providing health professionals with quality obesity treatment information grounded in published academic literature—using facts and realities rather than emotions and marketing.

As Todd puts it: “We all need to do better” regarding public health professionals’ collective responsibility in helping people achieve sustainable weight loss.

Background

Todd’s career spans mentoring dietetic interns, teaching at seven higher education institutions, operating a nutrition consulting business (Energy Balance Nutrition Consulting), podcasting, YouTube, and other nutrition initiatives.

Creating the database was a humbling experience—it revealed gaps in expertise that even years of education and practice hadn’t fully addressed. The widespread public confusion about obesity and metabolism, driven by industry scams, gimmicks, overpromising and underdelivering, motivated building a comprehensive research resource.

Purpose

The Paper Database aims to provide health professionals with a framework to address obesity treatment using the breadth of published academic literature, rather than relying on isolated studies or trending advice.
